About WordPress

WordPress is a free blogging platform available for free as a hosted solution at WordPress.com or for self-hosting at WordPress.org. Though the focus of Theme Playground is to assist owners of WordPress.org self-hosted blogs and developers, the content does touch on WordPress.com as well.

If you’ve been frustrated with other blogging options in the past, or are looking for a fresh start with a solid platform, many fantastic bloggers would suggest WordPress. It is extremely scalable, open-source, and the community behind it really is awesome. Just look at some of the Theme Playground community to get an idea!

If you have other specific questions regarding WordPress, feel free to contact Theme Playground or see our pricing information on the Consulting page.

About Ryan, blogger and web developer

I am the author of this blog. I have spent the past five years exploring the varying depths of the web, and a good deal of that time freelancing and/or working full time with web development agencies. My primary weapon of choice is WordPress, but I have also worked with Expression Engine as a CMS. I am a strong believer in valid code, forward/backward compatibility, and using new platforms for exciting things.

Most notably, I have written a good deal for Copyblogger, I have been featured at ProBlogger, and have spent some time writing for Daily Blog Tips, as well as numerous others.

In addition to this blog, I have my own personal blog at ryanimel.com, a blog exploring content management systems called Platform Pub, and a blog called Front Ending all about web development techniques.

In my spare time, I attend a University called Huntington, pursuing a double major in Philosophy and Biblical Studies. I also hope to complete a minor in Biblical Languages.
